Commands for the beginning
mudder.
Communication
SAY
Primary speaking command.
Ex.
say Hello Josiah, how be the weather
you crazy old coot! Put down that
goose and talk to me proper!
produces…
You say in Aiian,
Hello Josiah, how be the weather
you crazy old coot. Put down that
goose and talk to me proper!
Make it more complicated?
Ex.
say (smiling happily) Good day
Josiah! What a fine goose!
will produce…
You say, smiling happily
Good day Josiah! What a fine goose!
TALK
Just as above, but you’ll
be saying it slightly less loud,
so only people close to you will
hear clearly. If you are sitting
at a table, talk allows you to murmur
to those at the table with you,
without speaking your message to
everyone in the room.
SHOUT
Used just as above, but now your
message will carry a bit farther,
being heard in other rooms. You
can use shout to shout through a
door, or to call someone from farther
away.
TELL
When you want to direct your speech
to another person.
Ex.
tell abel Stop chasing that dog
you rascal!
produces
You tell a short little boy in
Aiian
Stop chasing that dog you rascal!
Make it more complicated?
Ex.
tell abel (screaming unhappily)
Stop chasing that dog you rascal!
produces…
You tell a short little boy in
Aiian, screaming unhappily
Stop chasing that dog you rascal!
WHISPER
Used just as above. But you must
be close to whom you’re speaking
to, and few others will hear what
you have to say, as you’ll
be saying it quietly.
SOCIALS
Socials are stock, easy to use actions,
such as smiling, frowning, clapping,
blinking, crying and so on. For
a full list of socials, type ‘help
socials’ in game.
Some consider socials to be an easy
way out of ‘emoting’.
But they do well for
simple actions. If you wish to produce
more complicated actions…
EMOTE
Emotes describe what you’re
doing visually.
Ex.
emote falls to the floor crying.
will produce…
A young girl falls to the floor
crying.
Use emotes to act out different
actions in the game.
More complicated:
Use ~ to replace other characters,
and ! to replace objects. Target
the characters and objects using
one of the keywords in their descriptions,
or their proper names.
Ex.
emote smiles at ~blonde and touches
!table.
A young girl smiles at a blonde-haired
man and touches the oaken table.
Ex.
emote smiles at ~john and touches
!oaken.
A young girl smiles at a blonde-haired
man and touches the oaken table.
More Complicated:
Use @ to move your own description
about inside the emote.
Ex.
emote Laughing happily @ claps
her hands.
Laughing happily, a young girl
claps her hands.
More Complicated:
Though it doesn’t matter most
of the time, the emote command is
really part of three different commands:
emote (visual) smote (sound) and
tmote (touch).
SMOTE
Used exactly as an emote, but used
when one wants to give forth a sound.
People will ‘hear’ it
in the dark, and blind characters
will ‘hear’ it, whereas
they would not notice an ‘emote’
(visual information).
Ex.
smote whistles a slow mournful
tune.
A young girl whistles a slow mournful
tune.
TMOTE
Used exactly as an emote or smote,
but is used to deliver only touch
information.
Ex.
tmote grasps ~johnny ‘s
hand.
A young girl grasps a tall young
man’s hand.
