| Though very different from their
native Sural, Gray Harbor colonists
have nevertheless accepted the new
island as their home. Every day,
it seems, someone finds a new, oddly
shaped mushroom in a meadow, or
a fly of a color no one thought
possible.
Island life exists in abundance,
but none of it is familiar to new
immigrants. For the purposes of
the game, it is easiest to assume
that most real-life animals and
plants exist back in Sural, and
not on the new island. Even the
bugs and grasses are different,
though they often bear such small
differences that colonists simply
use the old-world names for them.
So, to a colonist, a mosquito is
just a mosquito, whether it's an
island mosquito, or a homeland mosquito
(They tend to be bigger on the new
island, have slightly larger eyes,
and two extra legs, but in their
function, they are indeed mosquito-like,
if not true mosquitos).
In addition, colonists have brought
a large amount of plant and animal
life along with them. So even though
there aren't any native mice in
Gray Harbor, there are plenty of
Surelain mice that migrated over
from the homeland on ships. You
can quite easily find apple trees,
dogs, cats, chickens, carrots, potatoes,
and other homeland delights peppering
the colony, and the space immediately
about it.
That all being said, there is quite
an abundance of odd, and sometimes
dangerous, native life.
