"skerry" - a kind of shoal, rocks or a series of rocks that cannot be seen in the swelled waters of a storm.

"fore" - The front of a ship, ahead.

"aft" - The back of a ship, behind.

"port" - The left.

"starboard" - The right.

"stay" - A rigging line on a boat which supports the sail, usually tied to the bow or stern, and running lengthwise.

"shroud" - Similar to a stay, but supports the mast from either side.

"keel" - Ridge on the bottom of the boat, helps keep it from moving sideways.
